I am often asked as a medium if I believe in God. My answer is always – how can I not, with the work that I do? This confuses people. It is typically followed by the statement – but you are not religious! I may not be a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Taoism, Jewish etc., but I am a Spiritualist.
Spiritualism is a practice, doctrine, religion that is based on the idea that we never die, we simply move back to our spiritual self once the body can no longer hold us. It is also our belief that as a deceased spirit we can still communicate with the living and use mediums, like myself to help do that. We believe that once we die, we go back to the spirit world where we continue to evolve and continue to communicate with God.
In The Spirits Book, written by Alan Kardec in 1857 the founder of spiritism, clearly states that God is the Supreme Intelligence – “First Cause of all things and that God is eternal, immutable, immaterial, unique, all powerful, sovereignly just, and good”.
Prayer is always part of any service. We pray for peace, for forgiveness, for love to help those in need, for the Earth, but also to improve our conscious contact with God. Prayer is a beautiful conversation of quiet time that you have with God and that connection can be a sacred experience.
As a spiritualist, I know that I can connect directly with God. That I am a free spirit that is guided by Angels, guides and of course God. We express gratitude; find positivity in everything we see and do and follow a purpose of love. But we also talk to the dead. We offer healing to those living, by connecting to those that have passed on. We also offer healing to those in the spirit world that still have unfinished business with their loved ones here on Earth. We don’t condemn or question other religions, we simply follow our own inner guidance, always focusing on the good of both worlds. Our role is to help people understand that love never dies and that God plays a huge role in our lives.
Prayer is therefore an important part of my daily routine. Various mediums around the world who teach the subject of mediumship, always introduce the element of prayer. We open our healing session in prayer, we close in prayer. We are taught to include prayer in everything we do – just like any other religion.
I know that I am connect to God when I am in a conversation with Him. I know that He is present when I connect with Him during a healing session or reading. I know this because just like anyone else who experiences the joy of prayer, I feel the love and His presence.
Here are Seven reasons why I choose to spend time in prayer:
- Asking for love or healing to be sent to specific individuals in need.
We all know the prayer lists that are handed around during a church service. This list is not about us, but about the giving of love and assistance to those in need. Asking for help for someone else, is my way of holding space for someone in need without having to know exactly what the concern is and knowing that God knows exactly what they need in that given moment.
- It is a form of communication.
I enjoy my quiet time, talking away or journaling. Receiving a message from Him while I journal all speak out loud. It’s a wonderful way to feel the presence of this supreme being always being willing to listen.
- I never feel alone.
When I am in prayer, I feel safe, and I feel that I am in the company of someone who will never let me down. I know that I can talk to about anything, and I know that I never walk alone.
- I receive infinite knowledge and wisdom.
I don’t know everything. No one does. The information I receive when in prayer is beyond my understanding or knowledge. The messages that I write down or channel in prayer is not how I would typically talk. It is always filled with wisdom and love. It’s a gentle guide to life’s journey.
- It raises my vibration.
When I wake up in the morning and feel tired or down, prayer lifts me up. It raises my vibration and makes me feel connected and good. It feels me with love, and it creates a sense of peace.
- It gives me confidence feeling that He has my back.
When I connect in prayer before a reading, I know that I will provide the client with exactly what is needed because the love that is giving is coming from God and loved ones. He gives me the confidence to stand up and do what I do. I have never felt let down. I have always felt Divinely guided my whole life.

To simply go quiet and say thank you. Thank you guiding me; giving me the wisdom I need to share with the world; for helping me connect; for teaching me to be the best version of myself; to let go of things I don’t need to carry; for never feeling alone.
